Going out with kids in Strasbourg (0–8 years): complete guide

Strasbourg, between France and Germany, offers a beautiful diversity of family outings. From Le Vaisseau to parks along the Rhine, here are our best addresses.

When it rains

Le Vaisseau

Interactive science museum dedicated to children aged 3-12. Experiments, hands-on activities, touch pool with fish: everything is designed for learning while having fun. 100% kid-friendly interior (stroller parking, restaurant with high chairs).

Strasbourg Planetarium

For budding astronauts from age 6-7, star observation sessions under a dome. Indoor activity at the University, educational and fascinating. Plan to arrive early as sessions are popular on Wednesdays and weekends.

Historical Museum

Fun journey through the city's history, with models and costumes to try on. Stroller accessible with elevator. A game booklet is offered at reception to keep children busy during visits on gloomy days.

When the sun shines

Parc de l'Orangerie

The meeting point for Strasbourg families. Large gardens with playground, free mini-zoo (storks, monkeys, birds) and small car or boat rental. Changing tables and microwave available at the welcome pavilion, and numerous lawns to settle on.

Jardin des Deux-Rives

Cross-border park allowing you to cross the Rhine on foot. On the German side, large water playground in summer and friendly biergarten appreciated by parents. Original walk where strollers and balance bikes reign, with river views.

Parc de la Citadelle

Vast green space on the traces of an old fortress. Water games activated in summer for splashing, playground and fitness trail. Picnic in the shade of trees while children safely cycle on car-free paths.

For toddlers

La Maisonnée (LAPE)

Historic Parent-Child Welcome Center in Strasbourg (0-4 years). Come freely in the afternoon with your baby to play (early learning games, tricycles, play kitchen) and meet other families. Caring professionals present, free participation. A haven of gentleness to breathe with your toddler in the city.

Au Bercail (Petite France)

Family restaurant with a dedicated playroom in the basement. Cabin, indoor swing, drawing board: children don't see time pass while parents enjoy their meal. High chair and kids menu available, relaxed setting that happily accepts the noise and bustle of mini guests.

To burn energy

Gulli Parc Strasbourg

Colorful indoor play park with giant structures, monkey bridges, spiral slides and under-3s area. Perfect for burning energy in winter or rain. If parents want to join in, they can climb with the younger ones.

Schiltigheim Pool

Aquatic center very close to Strasbourg with fun pool, water games and mini-slides. Ideal for a family swim outing: 32°C water, family changing rooms and floating equipment provided. Baby swimmers love it and older kids have a whale of a time.
