Going out with kids in Rennes (0–8 years): complete guide
Rennes is a dynamic and welcoming city for families. Between the Champs Libres and the Brocéliande forest, here are our best addresses for outings with children.
When it rains
Les Champs Libres
Cultural hub combining the Science Museum, a planetarium and the large library. Interactive exhibits (little ones' space with science games), star sessions for children and a youth library rich in picture books. A complete indoor venue, fully equipped for families (elevators, changing corner).
Espace des Sciences
Within the Champs Libres, this science museum offers fun experiments and a Merlin's Laboratory where 6-8 year olds handle things like grown-ups. It's raining outside, inside neurons bubble with fun. Practical bonus: cafeteria on site for snack breaks.
Loopiland (Bruz)
Covered leisure park at Rennes' doorstep (1000 m² of games). Mega climbing structures, sledding track and even an indoor scooter area. Children burn energy loudly without bothering anyone, while rain drums outside. On-site catering available, heated and secure spaces.

When the sun shines
Parc du Thabor
Magnificent French garden in the city center, with rose garden, aviary and several playgrounds. Easy stroller route on flowered paths. Admire the peacocks, slide and snack under the arbor. A must for fresh air with children.
Parc des Gayeulles
Huge wooded park on the outskirts, a true family leisure base. Ponds with ducks, tree-top courses (climbing accessible from age 6) and a mini-farm with rabbits and goats. In summer, paddling pools and outdoor water games delight little ones. Lots of space to run free and picnic tables available.
Brocéliande Forest (Paimpont)
An hour's drive away, for an exceptional nature excursion following legends. Easy walks suitable for children, tales of Merlin the Enchanter to listen to along the way. Ideal for a family day outside the city, accessible in all seasons (just bring boots on wet days).
